okay we've got an manuel transmission? or an automatic? is this a 4WD model?
first time user I replied your email I guess you didn't get it . So yes automatic transmission . and yes four wheel drive

there has to be a solenoid underneath where road debris/rocks can pummel it and make it inoperative....send someone under there to take a good looksee for the mechanisms involved with the front half of your 4WD~~most likely a power driven solenoid....connector pulled off~
Thanks man i assumed some kind of solenoid or vacuum or actuator . I didn't narrow it down to be in the front axle or differential . as I said the front driveshaft spins free until you put it into 4 wheel drive . I'm thinking its the auto locking hubs (factory) or the diff not locking or engaging. thanks again . Ill call the dealership :( and find out exactly what ill need.
