Car not turning over

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car will crank but the engine won't turn over! All
of my lights, fans, everything electrical works but
my engine just won't make that final push to
starting. There's no clicking sounds or anything like
that. What could be my problem?

Does the engine sound different when cranking then it used too. if it does then it could be timing belt. The other obvious failure is the fuel pump. And then the crank sensor...etc Sorry it is hard to diagnose problems when we are not right there looking at the problem.
Hi Kelly, yes sorry it's not catching! To my ear it's not sounding any different... How would the fuel pump affect the engine catching? And how much do those things tend to cost to replace?
Could be the fuel pump, or fuel pump fuse, or even the ignition coil(s). When you put the key in and turn it to on, before the start position, you should hear a hum or slight buzz as the pump gets electrified and pressurizes. You may need a second person to listen near the fuel tank from the trunk, up by the back of the back seat, to hear it. If the fuel pump is working you need to check for spark at the spark plug wires at the end thatgoes onto the plugs.
