You can find used frames on Craigslist for a few hundred to several hundred, depending on how much of the suspension or other parts of the drive train are left on it. The caveat with buying a used frame is you have no way of knowing how straight it is, whether it was damaged or not. You'll also have to determine whether the frame fits your truck, with all the differences extended cab, short bed vs long bed, etc. You also need the expertise of placing a cab and front clip back on the frame, and handling the electrical installation and plumbing it. That can be a daunting task. If you're handy and can flare a hydraulic line or can follow an wiring schematic go for it, but if you're planning to farm all the work out, forget it, it'll cost way too much. FYI they do make frame repair kits, and it's possible to section off part of the frame - say the front clip, without having to get into the cab area, as cheaper alternatives.
