Blown head gasket or water pump?

Asked by Frank00civic Jun 13, 2019 at 01:33 PM about the 2000 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 honda Civic 1.6 it's been getting hot
within 15 mins of it being on and it sprays out
coolant from the hose going to the over flow tank
and gets coolant everywhere ( it got so hot melted
the cap so gotta buy a new tank) I replaced the
radiator cap, thermostat and a radiator hose
already but last night in my garage I noticed it
leaking coolant a little from where the timing belt/
water pump is. But today I topped off the coolant
and started the car and it wasn't leaking from
where the timing belt/ water pump is????? But I
have been hearing like a little screatch from by
where the timing belt is when I'm driving,,The car
doesn't smoke and the oil ain't milky. I was priced
375 from a family member to replace water pump
and timing belt but I don't want to pay that if it's not
the problem and I'm on a tight budget and it's my
only car
