Bank 1 System Too Rich your upstream oxygen sensor is bad

Not necessarily. No. Everybody jumps to 02 sensors when that is there are many other possibilities. This reputable site does not even mention 02 sensors, they measure the amount of oxygen in exhaust, not air /fuel ratio, there is one of those in the exhaust stream also. -- http://www.obd-codes.com/p0172
