Why does my 99 accord lx 2.3l idles rough and bogs down and back fires through the intake then shuts down when I press the gas pedal. If I push it down about an inch. Then motor will rev up.

Cleaned out the throttle body. Now the engine miss fires and idles rough. When I open up the throttle it bogs down. If I keep it open it will back fire through the intake. I put on new throttle position sensor, up stream o2 sensor, erg, map sensor and a new IAT. But none of it has helped. Could it be a blocked catalytic converter?

is your check engine light on. If so I would have it checked at a local parts store Advance Auto Parts, they will check it for free and write down the codes for you. It could be the converter. You can disconnect the exhaust before the converter To see how it runs. If it stops then the converter is plugged.I would also check your plugs to see if there isexcessive carbon on them.
I replaced the plugs and I have an obd 2 reader. It says the catalytic converter as incomplete.I also follow the steps from the repair manual and when I unplugged the IAC. All that happened was the idle went up to a higher rpm and stayed there.

when you unplug the idle air control valve that was normal because you caused the valve to open up in love more than enough air to flow through so it was not able to correctly adjust the idle air. I would unbolt the exhaust before the catalytic converter and then run the car if the problem stops then I would replace the converter.if the converter is bad it's causing an exhaust restriction which will increase the back pressure. that can cause your car to run rough sluggish or not start at all. since you have a code for the catalytic converter I would start there.
Took it to my mechanic and found out the gaskets that came with said sensor were wrong. So if you ever have to buy sensors. Buy them from the dealership. Then your guaranteed to get all the right components. A little more money. But worth it.
Thats the same thing it does
