Coolant leak

Asked by DCNKY Mar 21, 2010 at 12:12 PM about the 1999 Honda Passport 4 Dr LX 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed a small drop of coolant on the floor. It is not coming from the radiator or the hoses. I appears just ahead of the oil drain pliug. Don't know if it could be the heater or water pump. No evidence from the top looking around with a flashlight. Could not find any wetness with my hands or fingers around the water pump. Any ideas??

It is indeed probably the water pump. By the way you have to take the fan, timing chain and covers off to get to it. You cant see it just by looking without taking this stuff off. Replacing the water pump cost about $350 if a auto shop does it.
