tiguan turbo

Asked by GuruVJNZT Sep 23, 2018 at 01:56 PM about the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan AWD Highline

Question type: General

I am looking to buy a used vw 2011 Tiguan and had a question regarding the turbo. This turbo was replaced at 80,000km and I am wondering if there is a good chance that this would occur again in another 50-80,000km? or have they fixed the issue in the ones that are being replaced?

Turbos wear out like anything else. Changing oil frequently and cooling the turbo down for a few minutes when you park the car will extend the turbo life.

My turbo lasted for about 90K miles and then started giving compression problems. Within 6 months the turbo developed an oil leak or caused one and I lost 2 quarts of oil during a trip. Engine got seriously damaged
