honda wont accelerate

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 98 honda civic. Everything was fie till
about a day ago. I drove home from work
noticing a sligjg sound in the front of my
vehicle. A few hours after i parked my car i
go to start it and it wasnt the easiest start.
However thats not my issue...***so i go to
accelerate (by pressing on the gas) my car
moved for a few feet in idle but didnt rev nor
budge. Im guessing it might be wiring. Fuel
filter and/or pump. Question is what should i
do to find the source. ???please help as this
is my pregnant wifes vehicle and i only own
motorcycles..
Ps when i press the pedal it also makes a
loud poping like sound

It might be a clogged catalytic converter in your exhaust system, Air filter, any passage that air should flow that gets blocked or clogged can cause the same symptoms. Or, your timing belt slipped and now everything's off. That doesn't sound like it's going to be a simple diagnosis.
