I have a 2000 ford contour...had to replace the fuel pump and sensor after they checked the catalictic converter and found that it did not need replacing...Now check engine light is on...car makes a funny jerking move like it's trying to get the gas to move. Or something...after driving it for awhile I get back in the car after about 2 or 3 hours car won't turn over...all lights are on...no radio is on...car alarm not activated...now, does anyone know why this is happening?

My guess would be fuel pump, low fuel pressure, but i know you said it is new,but some new parts are bad from the start, check the fuel pressure,on that new pump, think you may find it to be the issue.

Also, Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.
