I have a 2000 ford contour...had to replace the fuel pump and sensor after they checked the catalictic converter and found that it did not need replacing...Now check engine light is on...car makes a funny jerking move like it's trying to get the gas to move. Or something...after driving it for awhile I get back in the car after about 2 or 3 hours car won't turn over...all lights are on...no radio is on...car alarm not activated...now, does anyone know why this is happening?

I have a 2000 Ford Contour. I ran a few errands yesterday with no issues. I did not hear any changes in how the car starts or how long it takes. I went out to my car today and it does not turn over. All lights/electricity is on, it makes the sound like its trying to turn on, but will not turn. I bought a new battery hoping that was part of it. That is not the issue, left it plugged in over night and did not drain, so it does not appear to be alternator (which was recently replaced) what else could it be? (I am thinking of the starter, but could it be anything else?) 3 Answers

have 1997 ford contour 2.0 reg fuel will not start have to hold pedal to the floor never did before,it tries to start but dies right away about 5-10 sec found a blown fuel pump fuse replace it also had bad wires on fuel rail they were exposed naked tape all them up.it tries to start with pedal to the floor has no codes did have 117,102po before but fixed them injectors firing,fuel pump has psi=42,node light test good on all injectors.has spark at each spark plug,good timing belt been checked still tight sprayed starter fluid in tbi will not start at then checked cam sensor has proper ohms resistance was running great till i backed up at mailbox togo into driveway replaced plugs, wires,coil pack,injectors,fuel filter before all this happeneddrove for a month then this problemall help needed i'm disable on low incom 1 Answer
