I have a 2000 ford contour se 6 cy and i almost rani it out of gas i made it to the speedway for gas and i kept it running why i pumped 2 gallons of gas in it. All of a sudden. It started spuddering .

When you run a vehicle's fuel tank nearly empty, there is a good possibility of any dirt or other foreign materials to get sucked up into the fuel pump and clog it up. First I would inspect your fuel filter to see if that may be clogged, and if that's not the issue it is more than likely your fuel pump. To get at these you do need to drop the gas tank. It is not a quick job but with somewhat limited tools and a little research, it's not unreasonable for a DYI job. Your looking at a pretty steep bill from a repair shop to do this. Best of luck to you I do hope for your checkbook that it is just the fuel filter, as those are easy to remove and replace!
