I have a civic lx sadan manual and I am wanting to know if a instrament dash harness will work with an auto one

No it will not work due to having different connecters for some switches on brake pedal and clutch neutral safety switch. You would have to modify some parts of the harness and if done incorrectly could cause problems down the road. I'd say find one that is meant for you car.
