This is a somewhat common problem. As a transmission gets more miles on it the parts inside wear and during the wear process particles and debris get suspended in the transmission fluid. These particles make the fluid have more friction allowing the tranny to work, despite the increase in tolerances. When you change the tranny fluid the new fluid is more "slippery". Some of the components that relied on friction will no longer work. You can try to run an additive. Lucas makes a good high mileage additive. Just remember to drain some fluid out to make room for the additive.

I had a new transmission put in bc it would only go in reverse then 6 years later had to put another one in bc it was doing the same thing. My 98 Honda Passport only has 15000 miles on it and I have only driven it around my area never out of state only local and now 5 years later it started slipping nothing like before checked fluid and then replaced it and filter and still want go into gear. But putting 3 transmissions in it would be crazy bc thsts 9000 bucks in a 1998 even though I have taken great care of it. The black orginal paint still looks good and has never been wrecked I am the second owner I bought it in 2004 with 4000 miles on it. But now I cant afford another 3 grand to put a 3rd transmission in it. Good luck with yours but if its going only in reverse it will probably will have to be rebuilt bc the first 2 times that's what mine did.
