i have a 1997 honda accord, my temp gauge would rise almost to red when stopped then go to just above the middle when im driving. Just replaced radiator, thermostat and coolant and it still does the same thing. What could be the problem

When did you last replace your water pump? Or, did you consider that the gauge is not working properly. OK, when you start your car, the gauge should go all the way to the red zone and then start coming down to the normal level. If you don't see that happening and the gauge just stays above the middle, it's probably the gauge. It's not normal for the gauge to rise to 3/4 position above the middle when stopped. BUT, if you're really overheating, it will go to the red zone.
Also, check your coolant level. Make sure you have enough in there and the reserve tank. I'm thinking more that you have a weak or bad pump.
Im thinking its the water pump. But try to see if your upper and lower hoses are cracked that could be an issue if it is. Second, make sure you have coolant. And since you replaced most of the stuff. Look into the water pump and gauges(sensors)

on your car the elec fans only opperate at about 230 deg if the fan-fans are not cycling it will cause this problem, if it were a coolant flow problem it would go straight hot all the time
Have you checked the coolant temperature sending sensor and have you tried swapping the fan relays out with other relays?
