Loosing Oil somewhere in engine

Asked by GuruJBLR May 24, 2017 at 04:10 PM about the 2003 Hyundai Accent GS 2-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced just about everything in the engine, and still I am loosing oil.
Dye has been put through the engine to try and see where it is going, but
everything including underneath is dry and the car generally runs well with
no smoke from exhaust.  Entirely frustrated now after spending hundreds of
dollars. The car only has 143,000 klm on it and I brought it off an elderly
gentleman at 40,000 klm and he was original owner and had oil changes
done faithfully, as I have also.  The timing belt has been replaced twice now
for regular maintenance and new spark plugs, wires etc.  Not much left to
replace at this point.

How much oil is it using? Have you checked the spark plugs for oil contamination?

Yes, new spark plugs and wires recently, as well as whole new exhaust system with new oxygen sensors as well. Regular oil changes now wondering if it could be rings or valve seals? Only 143,00 klm on car and not sure about blue smoke but I do think oil may be coming through the exhaust....what would this mean? I only know this from having to rev it out of a snowy patch this past winter and clean oil droplets coming from exhaust.

Yes, I think you could be right, may not be worth putting any more money out. I will try the cylinder test. Thank you.
