Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003  subaru Lagacy will only engage the transmission when the car revs
up to about 3000 rpms and then it starts to move it has the P0122 code and
also the and also the P0733 and P0734 Which are the 3 rd gear and forth gear
code I am replacing the tps sensor as my first line of attack  I hope this will
solve my problem, anyone else have any ideas

Didn't we just cover this? I suspect a slipping transmission will show codes for incorrect gear ratio.

Toss the transmission! Old 4EAT's have a front inner piston seal that dries and cracks from age, resulting in pressure drop that is insufficient to operate the tranny unless pushed by high revving. Lots of pedestrians have been hit in crosswalks when annoyed drivers lurch forward unsuspectingly after over-revving from a stop. Don't bother to rebuild, as it's incredibly difficult to get right. Just chase a clean (pink fluid) used 4EAT. and drop it in. About $2k total. If the body rot or other needed repairs are significant just toss the car...it's getting too old.
