Is 262,300 km to high on 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Asked by Martin Nov 26, 2018 at 04:27 PM about the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3L GL AWD

Question type: General

I am looking to purchase my first car and I found a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe
with 262,300 km for $2500. I was wondering if the car would still work well
after that many kms, or typically when Santa Fe's start to deteriorate?

How many miles do you need to get out of it? That is high miles so I would not expect to get much more use out of it without out major issues.

Does the seller have a reasonable explanation for the excessive miles? 262K is about 2-3 times the average annual mileage for a typical vehicle. I would be hesitant if there was no unusual driving habits claimed. Ask to see the seller's maintenance records to determine what has already been done to the car and how long ago.

My santa fe has high mileage and it still runs great but you MUST get frquent oil changes, do routine maintenance on it, and never EVER put it off. My friend has one that has been far more neglected on routine maintenance, and it is a heap with much lower mileage. Id def ask for a maintenance log before purchasing and if it wasnt timely and routine, personally--id keep searching. Thats a great price though! Im kinda feeling ripped off on mine, now!!
