Could be timing belt issue. If it broke or jumped time you probably have some bent valves. Which engine you have so I can confirm that it's one of the interference engines?

I have a 2000 honda accord coupe & I had the same problem. Its the main relay. Youtube it & the video will show you how to take it out & fix it yourself. I did that w/ mine. I also went to a pull apart car salvage & pulled out the main relay. It saved some $$$$$!!! Now my car runs better than ever. The main relay is under drivers side dash on the corner panel side.

Could be spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition coil, timing belt, starter (which would cause it to not even crank over; your starter is what cranks your engine,) alternator, battery, ect. When you start your car your ignition coil draws it's power from the battery and then relays it to your spark plugs to ignite the proper combination of air and fuel. You might check all your relays and fuses as well. Hope this helps narrow it down a bit.
