If you know that you have spark and that the fuel pump works/builds pressure then then next thing I would look at is to see if the plugs are wet with fuel after cranking. If they are dry then I would suspect that the ECU is not driving the fuel injectors and it could need to be replaced.

timing belt ? You may be able to see the lifters through the oil filter cap.
