Sounds like there are two things going on. You might want to check to see if the gas tank has a crack in it, or if there is any fluid leaking on the driveway. As for the car shutting down, it could be the engine or alternator. If you can get the vehicle to your nearest auto parts store. Just ask at the counter if they could read the codes on your vehicle. They have a OBD II Scanner that connects to your vehicle. They will do this free of charge.

Start with checking the alternator to make sure it's charging properly. Fuel pump is electric and will not work if the alternator isn't working
Okay thanks man that sounds great ! And do you know how much a alternator would run me ? And my grand pop has a scanner bout 7 miles away . but I don't think I'm going to make it w/o having a jump that's the problem. Scary feeling man. So crack in gas tank or leaking fluid anywhere right ? And engine or alternator ?
I was thinking the alternator as well ! But people having been throwing a lot of things at me ....
The car doesn't turn on at all . the lights and everything comes on but the car doesn't . I noticed the lights getting dimmer as well even tho the car isn't started but has a brand new battery . what's up with that !!??

Its your alternator...im puttn one n my honda right now....thats what the battery light is telling u...that u r runnin the battery low...ur alternator is failing to charge it back. If it was ur battery...u wouldn't get any lights...it would just b dead. Good luck.

I have a battery charger and have been charging mine for a few days til i can afford an alternator. Ur battery will charge back up and last a lil while. But anything u run....sucks the battery...heater radio...lights...so when u r almost out of battery....ur gages will all stop workin, lights slowly go dim...no power when u mash the gas. Ur alternator chArges ur battery.
Thanks everybody I really appreciate it ! Does anybody know how much it would cost total
These guys are right, sounds like an alternator issue. Your new battery will charge up just fine, while driving you are just running off of battery juice until it shuts down. The computer in there is an OBD1.
The alternator rebuilt goes anywhere from $85 to $130.
Does the alternator have to have a core charge built in ???
