Ford Expedition won't start!

Asked by amberdcurry Aug 30, 2015 at 10:45 AM about the 2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am praying someone out there can
help me, my vehicle has been down
for a year now and I have had some
recent changes that make it
imperative I get my vehicle running!
So, i have a 2000 Ford Expedition
Eddie Bauer edition. One day while
driving down the road after getting
fuel it died. Now it cranks but won't
fire it just keeps turning and turning. I
have been told I'm getting fuel and
spark so its sorta a mystery. I did tow
to a mechanic who said he thought it
was electrical somewhere in the
steering but doesn't do electrical and
can't be sure. Then while another
mechanic was looking at it we noticed
everytime we turn it over fuse #30
blows without fail. So thats the jist of
it. If anyone has had this problem or
has any suggestions i would be so
grateful!

It would be helpful to know what circuit fuse #30 protects.

Cavity# 30 - 30A* BSM (door locks, liftgate glass release relay), Liftgate glass release motor, Door/Liftgate lock motors

Did some googling and it may be an ECM fuse. Look for a wire that has been or is in contact with one of the exhaust manifolds causing a short. Also you could try unplugging some connectors to try to find where exactly the short is. Using a quick acting circuit breaker in place of the fuse would be helpful. A good mechanic could find the problem pretty quickly.

I apologize for not listing what fuse #30 is for. Per the owners manual fuse #30 is for the following: Passive Anti Theft Transceiver, Cluster, Ignition Coils, Powertrain Control Module Relay. Any other questions please let me know. Thank you in advance for any and all advise, suggestions and help!

SOLUTION!! Turn the key. Move gear shift from park to drive and then back to park again. Turn key to start. May only be temporary but seems to work.
