Need help bad! just replaced heater core heats not working ny is a cold place?

me and my buddies along with the help of his uncle who is a mechanic helped us and i know we did it right he moved so i no longer have the help but i like to try doing things on my own well the issue is i was leaking anti freeze cause there was a crack in the heater core and the heat was still working just smelled awful we changed and replaced that and the smells gone but the problem is so is the heat i have talked to several people who have told me the issue could be the blend door but i dont see how that could have gone we never messed with it then i thought it was the heater control valve but that was also not the issue i havent looked into the blend door could that possibly be it is it stuck on close?n for a/c? or is it stuck in any sorta position and how would i go about fixing this issue? all help will be appreciated GREATLY! and thank you :)

Most common problem after changing a heater core you may have an air lock, the system needs to "burp" usually running the vehicle for an hour or so will do it (or try a high idle 3500rpms (gas engine only do not do this for a diesel)for 4 seconds 2-3 times), but if you have drove the vehicle and still no heat and antifreeze level is topped up then next thing to check is the core if it is hot while engine running then its a fan or blend door problem. If the core is cold then you have a air lock or there may be a coolant valve not opening to allow the flow to the core. Good luck

sounds like air in cooling system,their is a bleader valve on it,ifu cant find it,remove cap on surge tank let it idle for at least a hour with it off it will get the air out of system,make sure it is full of collent,could need a new thermostat.I doubt the blend doors is the problem,they work off vacume.

Papa,Jon's answers are good advice. The blend door is usually a large black box under the dash, check all controls to the box, or you may have to take out the box and get into it to check the flaps for proper operation.
