!991 Honda Accord, 2.2, Manual Transmission. Parts lists two brands for the
starter motor: Denso & Mitsuba. Are they the same (interchangeable)? I
can't see the brand name on mine (still on vehicle).

If your going to auto store take yours off and match it to one your buying. On line I usually call directly and ask them. Any manufacturers make replacements besides o.e.m.'s

If I had to guess...I would say they are just different manufacturers of the same starter component....BUT DON'T GUESS...like the last guy said...pull your part and take it to your parts-store...I've had reasonable luck with O'reillys and Advance....but match that sucker up exactly and you are good to go. Also, you may have to scrape some of the refurb paint off your new refurbished part to insure a proper ground to the transmission.(believe me...I've seen one that absolutely would not operate until it's surface was scuffed up nicely). And don't worry so much, that's a job you can handle, Sir!
You can also go to rockauto.com parts site and look up all brands available for your year, make, & model and check the parts compatability info listed for each part. Like stated above, they are most likely identical from 2 diff manufacturers.
