how do i change the fuel pump in my 91 honda civic dx? when i turn the engine on instead of humming from the fuel pump i hear "choking" . i have already changed the fuel filter and the valve cover gasket trying to fix the issue before we figured out that it was the pump. (i have had 2 different people try to diagnose the issue) anyway, now that we are pretty sure it is the fuel pump we dont know how to access it. there is no access in the back seat. thanks :)

Ok, well it is true that some civic models had back seat access to the fuel pump, it did not apply to all. If there is no access then you need to drop the tank... Before you do make sure your parts supplier can provide new tank straps, or you may be stuck of a few weeks. Also check the cost and avail of a tank. Sometimes it's cheaper and faster to replace the whole tank and pump module assembly at once.
why would it need new tank straps, do i have to cut the straps?
i guess basically i need a step-by-step. like how do i drop the tank, what do i do once the tank is dropped etc etc
first lift the car up enough to move around n lift the tank down....n if u take the straps off rite u wont need new ones....thats if there isnt a incar hatch to get at the top pf the tank u need to drain the tank n flush it out.....n make sure u put a new fuel filter in....its a easy job....once u get it apart
