2005 Hyundai Sonata acceleration issue
I have a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. I noticed today that when I stepped on the gas pedal while on the freeway while trying to pass a car when switching lanes, I saw the RPM shoot up to 3000 but my acceleration seemed to be lagging. It almost feels like when you have your car in park and you step on the gas pedal. You hear the engine roar but you obviously don't go anywhere. I have been having EGR valve issues so I'm not sure if that's the issue or not. I've turned off the check engine light several times because even the car shops like National Tire and battery said it's fine if I left it alone. I had the check enginne light for EGR valve turned off 2 days ago. It came back on tonight. Now I think it might be the EGR valve again but the acceleration issue has me worried that it might be something else. Haven't checked what the light means yet.... I initially thought it might be my dress shoes and my feet couldn't really feel it very well through the shoes when I stepped on the pedal but I saw the RPM change so I know it's not the shoes. Does anyone know what's wrong?
