Car stopped while driving

Car stopped running while I was driving
Battery appears fine
Car won't start on push start or cables
The key in ignition turns and vehicle makes high
whining sound. But engine doesn't turn.

And just to add to that no engine or warning lights have appeared before or since vehicle stopped in mid drive
