Aloha,
I just bought a nice used 2005 Hyundai Tucson that has over 227000 miles
on it. How many miles is this particular vehicle built for? It has been well
maintained...but I need some idea of it's remaining life please. If it makes a
difference I live in Hawaii.
My email address is: dkmiles@hawaii.edu Let me know if you need a
picture of the car.

That car is well past its expiration date.
It depends a lot on how you plan to use the vehicle, how much you will drive the vehicle, and how well you will maintain the vehicle. A 16 year old vehicle with 227,000 miles on it is in the sunset of life. If you are using it as a second vehicle and you won't be driving it a lot, maybe 5,000 miles per year, it might last another 10 years. But if you're going to be driving it say 10 to 15 thousand miles per year it will probably last 2 or 3 years with continued good maintenance. I bought my 03 S10 Pick Up 10 years ago with 246,000 miles on it. The truck now has 299,000 miles on it. I use it as a second vehicle. I've had to put brakes on it, a catalytic converter, a tune up, and recently a starter on it. The air conditioning stopped working about 3 years ago and I'm not putting the money out to fix it. As I said, it's a second vehicle. If it was my only vehicle it probably would have died 5 or 6 years ago. Most vehicles are built to last 10 years or 150,000 miles. But many live well beyond those numbers. As an everyday driver I'd expect you to get a few good years out of it. Hope that helps! Jim
