04 Tiburon won't start Immediately

Asked by Rex081 May 01, 2018 at 11:41 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I turn the key, the engine cranks but it takes
about 15-20 seconds of cranking before the car
finally starts. But once  the car starts and I turn the
engine off and turn it back on immediately,  it
starts just fine. But if leave the car turned off for
maybe about 5 minutes and try starting it, the
cranking is back again. I tried changing my fuel
pump but it didn't work. Can't figure out whats
causing it. Anyone's expertise in this matter would
be really appreciated. Thanks

You could have clogged fuel injectors or a leak somewhere in your fuel line. Have you noticed any gas smells or seen any leakage? Try running some seafoam through for a few fillups and see what happens. You may also have something wrong with a seal in your piston heads which are not responding to the fuel. But as metal heats up it expands sealing the cylinder. And when it cools down it contracts. Also try hooking up a OBDI to see what your fuel to air ratio is and see if its running too lean. Best of luck
