mercedes c class starting problem

Asked by test103 Jul 09, 2016 at 05:09 AM about the 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230 Kompressor Sedan

Question type: General

Mercedes c class diesel 55 plate won't start. Key turns but won't turn starter. There is no signal from key to starter. If I take of the purple wire I think from fuse box and send direct feed to starter it will fire up so I'm assuming the problem is between ignition and fuse box. Are there any relays or fuel that control this? Any help greatly appreciated

First perform a starter circuit voltage drop test before assuming issue is "is between ignition and fuse box" use a multimeter or have this check done. Check all FUSES first and make sure all cable connections are clean, tight and not corroded,GROUND straps can always cause a problem.

Turned out the can wires under drivers footwell had corroded and broke away due to water entering car. Repaired wiring and now fine. Thanks for help.
