Why can I not change where my heat comes from?

Asked by AlexCE Dec 05, 2014 at 06:18 PM about the 2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive an 03 Hyundai Elantra GLS and whenever I try to get heat to my windshield
(defrost) nothing comes out. Furthermore, when I try to change to any other mode, nothing
happens. I get air out of my dash vents, and that is it. How can I fix this or diagnose the
issue?

the switch itself could be bad or it could be a blend door actuator in the ductwork.

Depends on if your hvac has cables to switch blend doors or if it's electronic I believe it's a cable in yours and if so I'd check to make sure the cable isn't damaged and or attached if it's hard to turn the button it's probably a warped blend door had to pull the whole dash out on one because of that not a fun job if so
