2003 Hyundai Elantra Manual GT having acceleration problems

Asked by Kpierson2 Nov 02, 2012 at 11:57 PM about the 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car starts fine and the engine light is not on but when I try to accelerate up hill I can't go above 30 mph. For example, Light turns green and I put it in 1st and the rpm's rev all the way to 4 or 5 and then when I get it to 20mph it does it again and same in 3rd and 4th etc. It sort of feels like the car slipped out of gear but it is definitely in gear. Please help!
