Negative cable hot and smoking won't start

3 days ago my 07 ram died pulling up to house, no power
at all. Since then starter, battery, both cables replaced.
When attempting to start, neg cable gets hot and hear a
clunk sound. Never had any issues like this ever and
frankly I am lost.

Is engine trying to seize? Can you turn crank by hand? If you pull spark plugs and accessory belt, might make easier to crank? good luck
