How do I turn off the "Automatic Mode" so that I do not have to turn it off every time I start the engine?

The automatic shutoff mode (ESS) can be disabled by pressing the button with the A and a circle around it. However, this MUST be done with every vehicle start if you do not want it to operate. There is no way to turn it off completely. In some GMC models, equipped with the same feature, you can't turn it off at all!
