Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine shaking when in Idle or at a stop. Subsides
when I give it gas or driving. Also, when I turn off
and put gas in, will not turn completwly over until i
pump gas pedal. Nothing showing up for codes
from onstar or diagnostic test.

Your engine will set codes if you drive it more. Sometimes you have to drive a while before the CEL comes on.

My guess though would be an ignition miss from a bad coil.

Hey guys I just needed to input because I think I actually found the solution. I know there are a lot of people saying it’s bad coils, but unless your check engine light is on then it isn’t!!! My dad is a genuious and discovered why my 2007 caddy Srx had intermittened shakes of knocks. It’s because of the “purge valve”? He discovered that my gas cap was on tight . I never screw my cap tight. This might sound strange but put your ear to your gas tank with the cap off. If you header a funny sound it’s becaise your purge valve needs to be replaced. It’s a 23$ part and can be installed by yourself!

I had a rough idle on my 2004 srx 3.6L Had no codes only ran rough and shaking at red lights like a stuck EGR value. Checked for vacuum leaks.Tune up didn't help. Ran great when cold. Found out the camshaft actuators were sticking a little remove and cleaned them and now it runs great.

I struggled with this problem for 6 months and thousands of dollars! Ultimately, it was a bad high pressure fuel sensor. The newer vehicles use port injection rather than fuel injection, this creates build up that was normally cleaned by fuel. Brand new vehicles are being made with both, to minimize this problem. I hope this helps someone solve their problem faster and less expensive than mine.
