Low idle

Asked by Kaliforniaaaaa Jan 30, 2016 at 01:23 PM about the 2002 INFINITI G20 Luxury FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a '02 Infiniti G20 with 121k miles on it.
Recently it's been idling really low, even shut off on
me when I moved from Park to Drive. Dad adjusted
the accelerator a bit but he's wondering if it's the
cold choke?  I know very little about cars, but I've
been banged over the head and replaced the
brakes, rotors, tires, $700 radiator....Squeels when
AC or heat is on and worse when accelerating too
(probably need to change a few belts I've been
told). I just can't afford to take it to a shop...what
can I do for the idling situation?  Right now when I
start the car up (cold weather) I just hold the gas
down a bit and let the car run for 5 minutes...let off
and it still idles low but I'm able to drive. Help!

Try a good fuel system cleaner but the problem may be with your IAC (Idle air control valve).
