1977 Firebird cranks but won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1977 Firebird. I only start take it out every few months just to keep
the battery from dying. I tried to get it going the other day and it won't start. It
will crank just won't start. I put fresh gas in it and nothing. I sprayed starter
fluid in the carburetor and nothing. I went ahead and changed all the spark
plugs this morning and still nothing. cranks but will not start. A friend told me
to remove a spark plug and crank it to see if I am getting a spark and I am
not so I assume that's the issue. I honestly don't know alot about the car, I
got it from my mother in-law when she passed. Any suggestions?

Is the ignition coil in the distributor cap? One place on the cap, that says tach, you can use a test light on that terminal, the other end of test light, touch to clean metal part of engine. Key on or engine cranking, any reaction from test light? Also, check for primary voltage to ignition coil, pink wire, goes hot with key on. Could be other issues.
