I'll be away for a month, should I leave my Volt plugged in to protect the battery? Or does it not matter?

Read the owners manual to see what the factory recommends.
There is a mode on your Volt that is for this exact situation. It will be in your owners manual or on youtube. But yes leave it in, but not on the actual charging mode.

That's a long owner's manual and I didn't see this addressed anywhere. How do you plug it in without charging?
