Why does the audi 2017 auomatic not shft smooth except in manual

Ask your dealer. Maybe you have it set on Sport?

I think it varies from car to car. I noticed my car will jerk into 2nd and 3rd preaty rough but after a couple shifts it evens out or jsut stays the same. every gear after that shifts smooth as butter. mine is a 2013 audi a4 and in my experiance all of these cars do it. I asked tho also and they said it jerks a little to give you the feeling of a gear shift .
