No power to anything

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently replaced AC and PS belts (Napa lifetime warranty belts). I did not have a
torque socket so I do not know how tight they were. Seemed easy enough, ran fine
after, but when turning right or left I heard some squealing and the battery and brake
light (on dash) were flickering as I drove. I got home tightened the tension adjuster to
the PS belt thinking that the belt was too loose. It started up and I figured it would be
fine. The car intermittently would die then come back on (the car would go dead, while
driving then all the power would come back on). Made it home again and once again
tightened the adjuster to the PS belt thinking it couldn't get too tight but maybe its too
loose and not running the alternator correctly. After tightening, I started it and it
seemed fine, so left it in the garage. About 2 days later, I start it up, pull out, and start
driving, I get about 100 feet and the car dies- no power to anything, no lights on dash,
no lights, key fob won't work, trunk release in the car will not work, I mean no POWER
at all. I have had dead batteries and even they had a sliver of power. I checked all the
fuses that I could see and they seemed fine. I have no idea about electrical systems
and how they work-I am decently mechanically inclined, but I am thinking maybe some
electrical control unit is gone.

2004 Infiniti G35 coupe, about 94,000 miles on it. Automatic 3.5 six cylinder.  I have
replaced the cam positioning sensor twice in the past. Other than that no problems
except standard brakes, tires, oil.

The car is sitting about 100 feet from my house, I couldn't even use the shifter to put it
in neutral and push it in front of my house.

How do I over-ride the shifter to get in neutral so I can get it towed?

Have you checked the battery voltage? If battery voltage was low already and the alternator was not putting out correctly due to loose belt the battery could have been running all electronics it's self and is dead now. If battery checks good check battery connections. They must be clean and tight. Also the negative battery connections on the frame and motor.

Not the battery. I didn't test it with a volt meter, but just connected jumper cables from another car running and not one change to anything. Connections are tight and clean.

Did you ever figure out the cause? I'm having the same issue now.

Same thing happened to me guys and if you figured out what the issue was please let me know. My car is dead even with a new battery. No power, no lights, no dash lights, no nothing, there is no spark even when I connect a jump box to the cables. Checked the Fuses on the terminal and they seem to be ok.

I just ran into this same problem last night. My 2013 JX35 died on me while I was driving 60mph on a freeway. I got it towed to my home but there is absolutely no power to it now.

here is your fix, 03 G35 Sedan Part #: 24380-79913 Models: 350Z / G35 This fusible link can be found attached to the Positive Battery Terminal on your Nissan. This holds vital fuses designed to protect your cars electrical system in the event of a dead short. Under normal conditions, your battery is designed to vent excess gasses to prevent pressure from building up on the plates. Unfortunately, this process allows harmful acids and gasses to reach the metals on top of the battery case, more specifically the battery terminals and fusible link. This causes a build up of corrosion which in short time can erode the metal terminal and reduce the terminals contact patch to the battery post causing no-start or hard start conditions. Fits: 2003-2008 Nissan 350Z (Z33) 2003-2007 Infiniti G35 Sedan (V35) 2003-2008 Infiniti G35 Coupe (V35)

The comment above: GuruCH475 answered about a year ago The interior fuse box has relays behind it Put the key in the ignition tap on the fuse box wiggle the harness is you can you should get a reaction with dash lights coming on I just fixed a 2007 g35 with no dash lights no radio no power but good battery Has fixed my problem thankyou! Next question though, is there a way to tighten the harness so this doesnt happen again? Especially going down the road and it jar lose, I think that when we to ours to get the A/C fixed they jared the box loose but why it didnt happen right away idk. Maybe it was just a little loose and going down the road bumped it more.. All i can figure. But while its running i got back under there and pressed it up against itself hoping it would secure it more, then did a little light tapping to see that its not lose again. If anyone knows how to MAKE SURE its tight in there again please share. Hope this helps you as it did me! ;)
