Engine over revving

Asked by Roberto Dec 20, 2015 at 06:27 PM about the 2004 INFINITI G35 Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Infiniti G35. Recently it has started
over revving as I'm shifting. Also, I'm smelling like
if something is burning after I drive it. Starting to
get real worried because I love this car and can't
seem to figure out the problem. Can someone
please help me out.

Automatic transmission? Could be the transmission.

Ever figure it out? Was it idle sensor maybe? My 04 g35 is doing the same thing and I baby it for lack of better words. Im the sole owner, always hit all the service needs in time, no leaks oils still light in color and it's over 210,000 miles but it's recently lagging when shifting, and the motor has been sounding more "stressed" as it climbs RPMs but gauge shows it staying in the 1.5 - 2.5 rpm range. Pretty nervous myself. LOVE this car

Did you find your answer? My 2005 G35 hits over 3k rpms when going 40mph. Service engine soon light came on today too. I smell some kind of burning coming through my vents too.
