engine swap

Asked by Kevin Apr 23, 2017 at 03:56 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Silverado Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Would a 5.7 V8 from a '90 chev caprice be an exact swap to a '94 Silverado? They are both the 5.7L and look completely identical. I'm more concerned  about the transmission fit up

This caprice was a local police car I picked up at an auction. I checked the vin numbers and it is a 5.7l, there is some added electronics but for the most part everything is the same. I really just want the engine itself

Yes there all the same from that area just use intake it will just bolt right on! I did my 97 c1500 with 5.0 to a 5.7. 305 to 350! Intake the same oil pan the same the only difference is the head and bore

The heads will fit no problems to. Just make sure if you swap put new gaskets you’ll end up with that drip oil leak
