Engine Swap on 2000 Ford Ranger v4 2.5L Manual

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger v4 2.5L 5-Speef
Manual, i went on a 3inch life and put new wheels
and tires, max i used to reach was roughly 95mph,
but now i can barely reach 65. I’d like to swap in a
V6 or 5.0 and get it running better and with more
speed. any suggestions?

Don't bother with an engine swap, I get people in my shop all the time asking about engine swaps and I refuse to do them because they're expensive, time consuing, and bad for the chassis depending on the swap. Just but some turbos on the i4 and make some power without all the hastle and wasted money in the long run.

shoot me some ideas & how they work, how i could use them, and price ranges. I’ll take yall’s word for it because i know that a swap would be way harder & more expensive.

The 2.5cc dual Spark plugs four cylinders Ranger engine is probably the best engine Ford ever built. I have had Rangers with a V6 and the four cylinder 2.5 4cylinder with two plugs per cylinder got between 20 and 25 miles per gallon and had a higher load capability, with out over loading the suspension then my 2010 Dodge Ram half ton PU. And it didn't tax the engine as much as the 3.7 CC Dodge v6. I think the you should bring it back to stock "GIVE" the 2000 Ranger to me and buy a big block Ford to make into a high rise, large tire truck. I hope this answers your question about your GREAT Ranger. You have the best engine that Ford with their usual nonsensical wisdom ever discontinued and they have made a lot of poor decisions when it comes to discontinued great products.

You need to re gear or reduce the size of your tires. Since you went big on your tires the top speed is actually higher than 65 due to the larger tire circumference. The 4.0 push rod engine was great but your truck had the option of the OHC 4.0 which is not good.

For turbos I reccomend "Turbo By Garrett" amazing quality and tremendous power gains. I have 2 on my Datsun 510 and 2 on my GMC 2500HD.

Like earlier stated. Change gear ratio in the rear ends. Most likely need 4:10 or 4:56 depending on how big the tires are. That will get it back to stock power feel and pull better.
