1985 Chevy C10 engine help

Asked by IcyHondanator Jul 08, 2018 at 10:19 PM about the 1985 Chevrolet C/K 10 Silverado LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will start up fine but when i floor it it will bog down
and then die. Sometimes it will start back up some
times it won't.  I've messed with the timing and the
carb adjustments to try that with no avail.
Replaced everything fuel related thinking that was
the problem but still have the same issue. If i spay
little sprays of starting fluid it stays running and i
can see the fuel is passing through the fuel filter.
Am looking for help!

Rebuild the carburetor with a quality kit and make sure to set the float properly, i like Hygrade/Blue Streak myself and availability is generally good but that is assuming you have a rochester carburetor as most GMs of that era. Either way you'll need the numbers off the carb to get the proper kit, if its a rochester and can't be found based on the carb number its probably a Canadian model and can be harder to track down. I find a vacuum gauge is useful for the initial setup
