I30 engine code 505

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an engine code 505, my mechanic says the throttle body and the computer needs to be replaced.....WOW!
The code 505 says: when the engine is started it should go into a high rpm (about 2000). My car does the opposite. When starting it cold, it will start and then immediatly die. If I hit the throttle when it turns over it will rev up and then go into a normal idle. After the engine is warm it will run great, restart everytime as normal, but once it has sat and the engine gets cold I have to hit the throttle and then it runs fine again. Any help would be appreciated as the throttle body and a new computer are about as much as the car is worth.

you could seek a replacement from a pickNpull or salvage yard that will gather for you~ sure there's a cheap component available, not with the damned dealer markups on it.

I don't see anything about I30 code 505. I do see a P0505 code which deal with the Idle Air Control valve which costs a lot less than a engine control unit. Get a second opinion before going ahead with the repair. Read about P0505 here > http://www.obd-codes.com/p0505
