I have a 1998 Chevy c/k 1500 and the transmission
went. I found a 1997 700r transmission and am
wondering if that would work in my truck? If not
then what would?

They didn't make a 700r in 97. They stopped those in 1993. If it is a 97 your looking at a 4l60e, which is most likely what is in your 98. A 98 and 97 4l60e will interchange.
