Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 Chevy k1500 with the 5.7 350 vortec. I
have tried everything to get the truck to start.
Battery is good. It has good compression, fuel, and
fire to the engine. Checked all these last night.
Replaced crankshaft sensor and ignition coil truck
still wouldn't start. Starter is good and fuel pump
does engage. Did a tune up on it last year. New
spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button.
Changed the fuel filter last week. I am completely
stumped on what to try next.

So you check the spark? Is it nice and white in color? The thing would run probably if it had fuel pressure. I would check fuel pressure with a gauge up on the Schrader Valve. Fuel pressure should be 56 to 63 lbs. Also just let it sit there once the fuel pressure has built up. Watch the gauge to see if it drops. Should not drop more than 5 lbs. in three min. This is done with the key off.

Fuel pump, fuel filters are big cause of pumps failing because no one changes them and makes pump strugle then fail

If everything is good and it will not crank? Then you need to reprogram your key to truck. Lots of problems with GM and the security system failing.
