305 vortec to 350 vortec

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I did a 305 to 350 swap about 3 years ago. The 350 came out of a 97 GMC Yukon along with the computer. Just recently I decided to replaced my whole ac system which hasn't work in 8 years. Long story short. The truck runs great but for some reason the 350 computer will not run the AC but the 305 will. And yes I have tried a computer out of a 97 Chevy Silverado and same issues the compressor will not kick in. Runs fine with the 305 computer.

I figured it out. I just swapped out the computer chips. I guess the 350 computer body has a little different circuitry for the ac. So I have my 305 computer PCM body with a 350 chip. All good now.

How easy was the swap? Did everything from the 305 bolt up to the 350 or was it a bit of a pain?
