Starts then dies

Asked by T Jul 05, 2017 at 10:25 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 96 chevy silverado k1500 4x4 5.0L. I was
driving and all of a sudden it died. Mechanic said I
needed a time up. I changed the plugs and wires. I
even changed out the whole rotor and cap, fuel
filter spider injectors and fuel regulator, and started
the truck up and it ran for 6 minutes then it shut
off. It spikes in rpm then died. I have to wait for
motor to cool it seems like them it will run for a bit
enough to move the truck to another spot then die.
Why the he'll am I missing here. Thanks for all who
