Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have 1994 chevy extended cab silverado 5.7L with 4L60E trans, there is a
little slip accelerating from a dead stop and also if i am at a low speed and i hit
the accelerator just a little too hard and its irritating. its not the driveshaft or
read diff, its the trans. can this yr of trans allow adjustment of the bands or is it
too new and you cannot adjust the bands?

If it is slipping it likely needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Have you checked the fluid level and the fluid condition? The fluid should be a redish pink color, not brown or black. My guess is that your fluid is black and the transmission is junk.

well i just bought it, fluid was immaculate. its a weird kind of slip that is so hard to desc but it happens when theres sudden power applied at low speed w a heavy truck. was wondering if maybe it possibly could be a bad 1-2 accumulator or something that could be fixed wout taking out the trans. otherwise it shifts flawlessly, its just the strong load of sudden power at low speed or dead stop. its not quite a slip, it feels like drivetrain slack. i took out driveshaft and that is fine, serviced rear diff and it looked and felt tight and no metal in there etc.. thank you so much for your reply

also wondering if the band for first and second can be adjusted on this year of truck without taking out the trans. what i think caused all this is lack of maintenance from the person i bought it from. truck is 24 yrs old w 58k orig miles. sitting a lot and most likely lack of maintaining the trans. just trying to see if anything can be done ie replace 1-2 accumulator or adjust bands. i will try to get a pro to feel what i am feeling and diagnose it properly. simply trying to get info re can bands even be adjusted wout removing trans and can that 1-2 accumulator or even maybe a bad TPS even. want to try easier stuff obviously if theres a chance that this issue could be caused by something like i have mentioned or not. thanks again, appreciate your help
