Headlights turn off after a while driving.

Asked by soccer16insane Jul 27, 2019 at 02:08 PM about the 1993 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 93 Silverado has a problem where the
headlights, both high and low beams but
not turn signal or taillights, go out after a
while driving (anywhere from 5 to 45
minutes). Usually, turning off the headlight
switch for about 30 seconds will get me
another 5 mins or so before they do it
again. It has done this for two years at
random but has gotten worse in the last
few months. I have replaced the headlight
switch, applied dielectric grease to the
connectors (this helped it go away for two
weeks), and replaced the batteries. There is
no dimming of the headlights at all, they
just shut off all of a sudden, sometimes
flickering back on and off for a few
seconds, then stay off. Anyone have any
idea what is going on?
